Yesterday morning the inevitable happened...
We found our first tick of the spring season in our home crawling around on the bathroom floor. With an uncontrolled shiver of disgust I went and grabbed a butane torch and sent that thing to the fiery pits from which it came.
Ticks. One of the most interesting and admittedly annoying things that comes with living out in the woods. Every spring there seems to be a pure infestation of these buggars that hitch rides on us, our pets, and rodents who make their own unwelcome entrance into our homes.
A bug that looks like it could survive the apocalypse or at the very least start one... Known to carry life changing diseases such as Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and myriad of others. Disgusting.
Yes, for the next two months we will be on tick-watch... picking them off of our clothes, pets, and children. Doing once overs in the mirror before bed each night to ensure no hitch-hikers are going to bed with us (which has happened before)... Two months of caution and dry heaves.
Good luck out there to everyone in tick land... may the odds be forever in your favor!
