Now that you have a de-boned and fully fleshed hide, it’s time for the easy part... Salting!
All you need for this step is some non-iodized salt and time to:
Lay your bear hide out on a table and apply COPIOUS amounts of salt;
Ensure every square inch is covered and make sure that each toe nail has salt stuffed into it like a jalapeño popper;
Fold the bear in half so that it is skin on skin and let it rest sit for 24 hours.
At the 24 hour mark unfold your bear and scrape away all of the old salt. It should have a crunchy texture as it hopefully did its job pulling moisture out of the hide. Once scraped repeat steps 1-3 above one more time.
