A quick post for today…
As April is fast approaching, there is one thing on many western sportsman’s minds... Spring bear season. In my unit, we run from April 1 through the middle of June, and last year I was able to connect on a beautiful cinnamon color-phased bear and spent the few following weeks tanning the hide myself.
So, over the next few weeks (between my beaver trapping) I will be out scouting places for bear in anticipation of two friends who will be coming up to join me on a hunt at the end of May.
I will be sure to touch on a few things in upcoming posts:
Scouting locations and signs that I am looking for;
Bait barrel techniques and DIY upgrades;
Tanning tips to help you process your own hide (including how to bone out the paws), and;
My favorite bear meat recipes
Let me know if there are any other things you may be interested in learning about bear hunting...
